DG Shipping ILO Medical in Delhi for your CDC, sign-on and renewal

The ILO medical is the name most seafarers use for the DG Shipping medical fitness examination. It is carried out by a DG Shipping-approved doctor under the Merchant Shipping (Medical Examination) Rules, in line with MLC 2006 and the ILO/IMO guidelines, and the certificate is uploaded to the DG Shipping portal. You need it for your CDC, for signing on and for renewal.

The ILO medical and the DG Shipping medical are the same statutory examination. PEME (pre-employment medical examination) is the medical your company asks for before you join; it includes the DG Shipping medical and may add company-specific tests or forms, which we complete in the same visit.

Usually 3 to 4 hours. The doctor’s examination, laboratory, X-ray, ultrasound, ECG, eyesight and hearing tests are all done in the same building, so there is no travelling between labs.

Most certificates are issued the same day. In some cases it can take 24 to 48 hours. The certificate is uploaded to the DG Shipping portal once your reports are within the permitted limits.

A doctor’s physical examination with vitals, dental and ENT assessment, eyesight and Ishihara colour vision, pure tone audiometry, blood and urine tests (CBC, blood sugar, lipid profile, LFT, KFT and infectious screening for HIV, hepatitis and VDRL), digital chest X-ray, ECG and abdominal ultrasound, plus anything your company’s PEME form lists.

Glasses or contact lenses are allowed for many roles, but deck officers have stricter vision requirements. Bring your glasses or lenses and your latest prescription.
